Deloitte Australia Cyber Job Simulation

Hands-on cyber incident analysis and detection exercises based on real-world consulting scenarios.

Overview

This project is based on the Deloitte Australia Cyber Job Simulation delivered through Forage, designed to mirror the type of analytical and investigative tasks performed by cybersecurity consultants and SOC analysts in real client engagements.

The simulation focused on detecting suspicious behavior, supporting a client during a cybersecurity incident, and communicating findings in a structured and defensible manner.

Key Activities

  • Analyzed web and activity logs to identify anomalous and suspicious user behavior
  • Supported a simulated client during a cybersecurity breach investigation
  • Answered investigative questions to determine indicators of compromise (IoCs)
  • Applied structured reasoning to distinguish benign activity from potential threats

Skills Applied

  • Log analysis and event correlation
  • Incident detection and initial triage
  • Adversarial reasoning and hypothesis testing
  • Clear communication of security findings

Industry Relevance

This project strengthened practical skills directly applicable to:

  • SOC Analyst (Level 1 / 2) roles
  • Blue Team and Detection & Response positions
  • Cybersecurity consulting and incident support engagements

It complements my academic background by reinforcing how detection and investigation are performed in operational security environments, under time pressure and incomplete information.
